Additional Reel Editing From Existing Footage
When existing footage appears reusable for a new reel, Care Journey can check whether the source still supports the new audience, meaning, format and destination before the edit begins. The clinic learns whether a responsible new edit is possible or whether missing context, permission or footage requires another production route.
The source-to-cut card makes reuse inspectable
| Card Field | Question | Block When |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Source | Which original recording and approved transcript contain this moment? | The clip has no authoritative source or version |
| Permission | Does the intended person, setting and use remain within confirmed rights? | The new context exceeds the usable permission |
| Message Job | What should this audience understand or do next? | The editor is solving only for pace or novelty |
| Claim Context | Which surrounding words or visuals keep the meaning accurate? | The short cut turns a conditional statement into a promise |
| Transformation | What was removed, reordered, reframed or added? | The change cannot be reconstructed |
| Destination | Which crop, overlays and controls will surround the reel? | Important meaning falls outside a safe area |
| Caption State | Does synchronized text preserve needed speech and sound? | A new cut uses stale timing or unverified text |
| Approval Status | Who has approved this exact derivative for this use? | Approval is inherited only from the source |
The card does not expose a production bill of materials. It records the minimum decision trail needed to explain why one proposed derivative is fit, conditional or blocked.
Move from a new use to a tested derivative
- Define the new audience decision and exact destination before reviewing footage.
- Resolve the authoritative source master, transcript, permission and current evidence behind relevant moments.
- Mark clips that carry essential qualifications, speaker context or visual meaning.
- Create the editorial sequence and record removals, additions, crops and other meaning-bearing changes.
- Recheck the whole impression rather than comparing isolated frames with the old asset.
- Retiming captions and test representative destination renders, including overlays and safe areas.
- Route the exact derivative for the required clinical, brand, rights, regulatory and platform decisions.
(Google's current video-ad specifications) show why one master preview is not enough: supported ratios include horizontal, vertical and square, while overlays and calls to action can cover important elements outside safe zones. Other destinations differ, so the test belongs to the intended placement rather than a generic export preset.
What This Covers and What Is Separate
- The service reviews the approved source, permissions and transcript context, available visual coverage, the proposed message, edit changes, destination requirements and renewed review needs.
- The edit uses only approved source material within the agreed version; new filming, new permissions, new claims and wider campaign rollout are separate.
(W3C caption guidance) says captions carry both speech and the non-speech audio needed for understanding and warns that automatic captions need accuracy confirmation. A shorter timeline therefore needs its own caption and sound-meaning check; it cannot inherit readiness from the long master.
Questions to answer before the timeline opens
These questions test whether the existing material can support the new decision without hiding a source, rights, meaning, caption or destination failure.
When the authoritative master has usable permission, the required moment and context, sufficient technical quality, current evidence and a destination treatment that preserves the intended meaning. Exact production scope is agreed privately.
Not automatically. Removing context, changing order or adding a destination can create a new whole impression. The exact derivative needs the applicable review for its claim and use.
Only if representative renders preserve composition, important visual elements, captions and meaning. Platform overlays and safe zones differ, so a filename or aspect-ratio change alone is not a readiness test.
Choose new capture when the source lacks a required scene, accurate explanation, permission, qualification or technical coverage. Editing cannot manufacture a missing evidentiary moment without changing the nature of the work.

Decide Whether Existing Footage Can Support the New Reel
An initial conversation can cover the existing footage and intended new use without transferring source masters. Care Journey can then explain what permissions, transcript context and review material a formal edit would require.
